Pumping installation Pilmuir
The goal of this project is to realize an installation that fights flooding in the Pilmuir area. Bosman Watermanagements supply consisted of three BVOP pumps and their associated motors.
The River Findhorn in Scotland flowed its banks often over the last few years, causing housing estates in the surrounding area to flood regularly. To prevent the area from flooding in the future, the local authorities had commission the development and realization of a drainage channel and a large pumping installation.
The drainage channel serves to drain excess water to the River Findhorn through flap valves. When river water is high, however, this will not work, so the pumping installation will be put into use. Bosman Watermanagement was brought in to contribute to both designing as actually delivering and installing this pumping installation.
Three BVOP pumps are being used to pump water from Pilmuir to the River Findhorn. These pumps all have a maximal capacity of 1,3 m³/s. With the new pumping installation and the drainage channel, Forres is perfectly protected against flooding.
